Inspired by my work as a clinician, Not The Enemy delves into how to use your emotions as simply, easy to understand signals of your own personal needs. Punctuated with compelling stories of the real (sometimes heart-wrenching, sometimes uplifting) experiences of my own clients, each chapter focuses on a specific step to make using your emotions simple and straightforward. From understanding what emotions really are, to using down-to-earth strategies to identify and manage them, to communicating your needs to others, this book is designed to transform the reader’s relationship with their emotions- from enemies to good friends.
Purpose
Therapy isn't for everyone. Personally, I love therapy- it would be strange if I didn’t- but there are some people who just want to pick up a book and do the work on their own. I want them to have access to the same work I do with my clients, and I’ve worked hard to make a product that is engaging, approachable, and easy for everyone to use in their daily life.
