Hello
I hold a degree in clinical psychology, and have been practicing for 13 years. Whether I have been in in-patient hospitals, community mental health centers, working with children or adults, directing intensive outpatient programs, or working in private practice, one thing remains clear to me: that people feel that their emotions are a problem. I would very much like to change that.
My Story
“How does that make you feel?” The terrible, stereotypical, boring, necessary question all therapists seem to ask ad nauseam. I don’t blame my clients for their eye rolls. In fact, I feel the same. I sometimes don’t want to ask the question, just like they don’t want to answer it. I don’t want to be a stereotype. So, why do I ask this question over and over again if I know how much you’ll hate it? Because it’s the only question that really matters.

My Work:
I've spent time in community mental health centers, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and private practices. Each setting, and the patients I've seen in them, deeply effected me. In each, I was fortunate enough to find an important part of my therapeutic philosophy as well as my personal philosophy.

My Focus:
In all things, a focus on the function of emotions guides my practice. My passion is working with people who are willing and eager to have 'ah-ha' moments. Many of these people have been told they were 'too sensitive' or 'too much' when they were going up. Other people were told they were too 'cold' or ' have 'trust issues.' But it turns out, most people are just using old defense mechanisms that protected them for years. Uncovering the sources of long-term core beliefs and making course corrections is incredibly inspiring, and I'm grateful to my patients for allowing me to coach them through it.
My interests are varied within my field, and I'm thrilled to be a part of such a young science (psychology) as it unfolds. My current research and literature obsessions include incel communities as well as narcissism.
